Description

The MicroImage PXD520 is a high performance side-by-side display controller designed for demanding applications. The unit will display two full images side-by-side unlike a split screen, which only shows a portion of each image. The two images may be easily exchanged with a front panel switch. The side-by-side display works well with wide screen monitors where the additional black at the top and bottom isn’t as visible, maximizing display use. The MicroImage Video Systems Side-By-Side? Display controller has been designed for industrial and professional applications. Operation is simplified with easy to use buttons to control commonly used functions rather than having to waste time in deep menus for common functions.

The input signals are standard composite video, in NTSC or PAL format (all must be the same format). Genlocked sources are NOT required. The source video signal can be almost any composite video signal from a studio camera to camcorders and even the output of a VCR. The system will lock to many signals, even those of less than perfect quality. Each of the four input signals has a dedicated memory area for frame synchronization.

In the dual display mode, an optional border line may be selected to divide the images. This border can be set to off, black, dark gray, light gray and white via a front panel switch.

Side-by-side displays are commonly used for comparing two subjects, such as on a production line, forensics or in a medical setting. Security or monitoring of multiple locations or angles at once are additional applications that are common. Both images can be easily recorded onto one medium eliminating temporal issues with multiple playback recordings.

Two full images displayed side by side reduces the need for two monitors and is commonly used in clinical applications such as behavioral sciences. Two subjects at different locations can be monitored and recorded with a precise time alignment.

Video conferencing typically has multiple people conversing at once and the side-by-side dual image display mode can be used successfully in this application.

Courtroom display systems, which are becoming increasingly popular can benefit from the full image side by side display and remote switching capability of the PXD520.

Two simultaneously displayed images allow for comparisons that are necessary in Forensics, Bio-Medical and industrial production. Displaying them on the same monitor allows very precise comparison. The output signal of the PXD520 can also be sent to a video printer for a precise hardcopy.

The PXD520 uses state-of-the-art, high performance digital signal processing (DSP) to maintain the highest quality video signals. This assures a consistent image will always be displayed. The PXD520 will always produce both composite and S-Video signals simultaneously.

The PXD520 family of products works with a variety of video sources and cameras. The PXD520 will work with almost any video cameras (or other video sources) that have a composite output signal and meet the NTSC or PAL standard. Genlock is NOT required.

The standard RS232 control allows the PXD520 to be controlled by a computer or other device or from a remote location. See the protocol definition manual for additional information.
