| In the past, the only solution to compare two
items side by side has been to use a comparison microscope. Now the MicroImage PXS311
Single Camera Comparison Controller allows you to easily compare two objects using a
standard microscope or other optical system. The PXS311 is ideal for facilities that
cannot afford or justify the cost of a comparison (dual) microscope. With the PXS311, the user can place one sample under the microscope and store that image into memory. Then a second sample can be placed under the microscope and compared the the first image with the PXS311's powerful comparison functions. The images can be displayed side-by-side, top and bottom or faded over top of each other as needed. A difference mode is also available to highlight the differences between images. In addition, each image (memory or live) may be displayed full screen at any time. Like all the products in the MicroImage Pix/2 DSP series, the PXS311 will work with virtually any NTSC or PAL camera. Because of the internal full frame memories and time base correction, the camera does NOT need to have Genlock capability. Operational modes include horizontal or vertical split screen, fade and difference. In Split mode, t he two images can be split on the screen showing a portion of each image, either side by side or top and bottom. Fade mode will mix the two video sources together as an overlay. Difference mode is similar to fade except that it shows only the difference between the two video signals. A rotary control adjusts the position of the split screen and the amount of fade or difference. The Exchange button reverses the camera display positions (i.e. frozen image on left or top). The Freeze button will alternately freeze and unfreeze the camera image into the "B" memory. The frozen image will remain in memory until a new image is stored or power is removed or turned off. All switch settings are remembered when power is removed. Two simultaneously displayed images allow precision comparisons that are necessary in Forensics, Pathological, Oncological and Bio-Medical applications. Single camera, side-by-side comparisons can now be made without the need for an expensive comparison microscope. Forensic medicine and criminal forensics are areas where side-by-side or overlay comparisons are of the utmost importance. Items such as tissue and blood cells, ballistic samples and fibers can all be displayed for comparison on a video monitor. Since the PXS311 is fully compatible with most video printers and frame grabbers, a permanent copy can be made. A video projector or multiple monitors can be used to display the findings to an audience, such as in a courtroom. The PXS311 uses state-of-the-art, high performance digital signal processing (DSP) to maintain the highest quality video signals. This assures consistent matching between the live and saved images. The video input can be composite video, S-Video or a B&W video signal. The PXS311 will always produce both composite and S-Video regardless of input signal type. Options include rack mount capability and RS232 remote control. Power is provided by a universal desktop power supply (included) or it can be operated from +12VDC (negative ground). The unit is packaged in a durable metal enclosure with plastic end bezels. The PXS311 has a one year parts and labor warranty. The PXS311E has standard BNC and S-Video input connectors and works with almost any NTSC or PAL video source. The PXS311C has a special camera connector and can provide power to the camera (+12VDC). This product is designed for OEM applications. Board Level, OEM and Custom products are also available.
