PX101M2 B&W Video Screen Splitter/Fader |
The MicroImage PIX/2 family of controllers is designed to combine
the images from two video cameras into a single picture. The two images can either be
split on the screen showing a portion of each image or mixed (faded) together as an
overlay. The images can be split in the horizontal or vertical direction. A lower right corner insert mode is also available. The A camera is always displayed on the left or top and the B camera is always displayed on the right or bottom. For the corner insert mode, the B camera is within the insert area in the lower right corner. The split portion can typically be adjusted over 100% of the screen area with the front panel control. The Fade mode allows the two images to be added together. The mix can be adjusted over the entire range from a full camera A image to a full camera B image. The unit remembers all settings when turned off or when power is lost. Below is an example of the modes.
Two simultaneously displayed images allow comparisons that are necessary in Bio-Medical and in industrial production. Side-by-side comparisons, especially in Forensics, can now be made with ease. For example, in pathological or oncological situations, changes in tissue development can be compared to monitor a patients progress over time. Making comparisons in industrial production runs, especially in the semi-conductor industry, allows the manufacturer to check if the process is accurate or needs improving, and can help detect a problem before it becomes a costly error. Forensic medicine and criminal forensics are areas where side-by-side or overlay comparisons hold the utmost importance. Items such as tissue and blood cells, ballistic samples and fibers can all be displayed for comparison on a video monitor to help eliminate doubt in many cases. The PX101M2 works with Monochrome video cameras and will also provide power (+12VDC) to both cameras. The camera connections consist of a multi pin connector which allows a single cable to carry power, video and drives signals to the cameras. Only the second camera must have HD/VD lock capability, camera A can have lock capability but it will not be used. Camera A will provide the master timing. Power is provided by a universal tabletop power supply (included) that is compatible with many power systems throughout the world. The unit can be powered from +12VDC (negative ground). The enclosure is made of metal with plastic bezel assemblies. The PX101XC and PX101XCP include a BNC cable for the monitor connection and two multi-conductor camera cables. These cables provide video, power supply and HD/VD connections all in a single cable connection to each camera minimizing wiring complexities. Standard cable lengths for the camera cables are 6 foot and 15 foot. While not stocked, other lengths may be ordered (by changing the -xx at the end of the part number which indicates the length in feet). The entire PIX/2 family of products are also available as a board level products. These can be provided with the standard connectors listed above or small single row "header" connectors. The switches and the mix control can also be replaced with off board counterparts through optional single row headers. MicroImage Video Systems can also provide custom units to meet unique requirements. Please contact MicroImage Engineering for additional information. The PX101M2/PX101M2P/PX101XC/PX101XCP each have a one year parts and labor limited warranty. Since both cameras must be locked together for the correct timing, choosing the proper camera is critical to successful operation. For the PX101M2 unit to operate properly, the correct cameras MUST be chosen. Camera A can be virtually any camera with the proper timing, but camera B MUST have HD/VD lock capability (HD/VD inputs). Camera B cannot be an inexpensive security camera that lacks HD/VD drive inputs. Fortunately, many industrial B&W (monochrome) cameras have the HD/VD lock capability. Please see your camera manual or manufacturer for additional information. You may also wish to use MicroImage cameras which are guaranteed to work. If your camera does not have Genlock capability, A PXD310 series product may be right for your application. The PXD310 will work without Genlock capable cameras on almost any NTSC or PAL video source. |
